Year 6 PGL - July 2022

This week was the week  that Year 6 have all been waiting for.. PGL week! On Wednesday, they went to Boreatton Park, Shropshire. When they got there, they were taken to our rooms. They were staying in the mansion house and they were thrilled with their new home for the next few days! They engaged in a range of activities such as the giant swing, abseiling, climbing  and raft building. They also engaged in lots of team building activities such as the puzzle maze, capture the flag and the evening campfire. All of Year 6 demonstrated fantastic team work, resilience and problem solving skills whilst we were away. Their behaviour was fantastic, they were respectful and each child had a smile on their face for the whole 3 days! They had a fantastic time and we are sure that the memories made will stay with them for a lifetime!

Year 6 Residential on Grange Valley Field - July 2021

At Grange Valley, we recognise that for students to aspire and be successful academically and in the wider areas of their lives, they need to be given rich and sustained opportunities to develop their cultural capital. Due to the COVID restrictions, a residential was not possible for our cohort of Year 6 children. Instead, we provided a memorable overnight stay on the school field. We provided a chippy tea, DJ and disco, ice cream van, Mountain Monkeys company, cooked breakfast, forest school activities, sports and the overnight camp on the school field.  School were able to cover the cost of this to ensure that no child missed out on this fantastic experience. Our children acquired skills of resilience, problem solving, communication, skills, risk-taking and personal and spiritual development. We are confident that this experience helped to equip learners with emotional and social skills that can stay with them into adulthood and permeate into other areas of their life, as well as provide them with everlasting memories of their last days with us here at Grange Valley.

Year 4 Residential - March 2020

Without a doubt, the most memorable part of our term  was our PGL residential to Winmarleigh Hall. Over three days and two nights the children experienced learning through many outdoors activities. Each activity had its own challenges and the children threw themselves into each one, always pushing themselves to a point where they felt comfortable. The all showed wonderful elements of teamwork and not only did they build on some already great friendships but they developed some band new friendships with the classes of Wargrave. The children will have lifetime memories from this trip and are already talking about their residential in Year 6.

Year 2 Residential - June 2019

Year 2 had an amazing first time camping experience away from home! They were so well behaved, so brave and threw themselves into every activity! I was so proud of how they got stuck in to everything! Well done, everyone!

Year 6 Residential - July 2019

Year 4 Residential - March 2019

Our PGL trip was certainly the highlight of this term. The outdoors around Winmarleigh hall were used to provide us with unforgettable learning experiences. We took part in a number of 90 minute sessions each day  each one designed to bring out the best in every individual and they did not disappoint. Sessions included, climbing. archery, giant swing, high ropes, low ropes, zip-wire and more In the evenings, the fun continued with some lively entertainment sessions. The children were kept busy and laughing until bedtime when they got the chance to relax! Watching the children pushing themselves in unknown situations and showing their resilience was a very proud moment. This was an amazing experience for the children and one I am sure they will remember for a long time to come.

Year 6 Residential - June 2018

What a wonderful few days we had at Kingswood! The children were so well behaved, tried new challenges and had a fantastic time! All of the pictures are below for you to look through. I'm sure you can see what a brilliant time they had!

Year 2 Residential - June 2017

It has been such a memorable and enjoyable week in Year 2 this week. The children had such an amazing time at Beeston. I am so lucky to have taken such lovely and polite children away with me. The really did enjoy every moment and made the most out of every activity that we did. On Monday once settled in we went den building. The children found out how to make a den using only one small piece of string, stick and pine needles. Stella, our Ranger, was very impressed with the children's efforts. We had dens with en suites, ponds, seating areas and even a swimming pool.. Great imaginations Year 2! Later that day the children had a visit from Mrs Holcroft who joined us for tea. The children couldn't wait to tell her all about their activities. Soon after it was time for hot chocolate and a bed time story.

The following morning we got up bright and early- yes bright and early didn't we girls??? ready for our breakfast. After a lovely cooked breakfast the children couldn't wait for our orienteering. They worked well in their teams, using their pas, to find the numbers around the centre. The children had to crack the code! Super effort from all! After that it was time to get back on the coach and head off to the candle workshop. I'm sure you would agree that the children made some fantastic candle. I was very impressed with their listening skills! After a spot of lunch we then went to the Cheshire ice cream farm for a play and a well deserved ice cream. So many ice cream flavours to choose from.

The children were an absolute delight and i enjoyed every moment with them. Lots of memories that will stay with them for a life time.
