Clean for the Queen!

Grange Valley are proud to be involved in the 'Clean for The Queen Campaign.  Clean for the Queen are asking everyone - individuals, groups, schools, companies, sports teams –who are keen to clean up their area to get involved in the year of The Queen’s 90th birthday.

On Wednesday 3rd February our Sunshine group visited Lyme and Wood Pits Country Park, at Vista Road. The children were supported by a small group of children from Haydock High School. The project was all about making improvements to the environment in the local community. Following a planning meeting the children decided they would like to go litter picking in a local park and meet the ranger to ask questions about the work he does to improve the environment.

Scott Lancaster, the ranger, worked with the children and showed them how to build hedgehog habitats and talked about other topics which the children wanted to discuss. The children also worked in the nature walk and picked up litter.

As well as having a fun time together the experience developed the social skills and confidence of all the children involved and gave them an awareness of respecting the environment together with a sense of achievement.

We would like to thank Scott from Cory Environment and everyone involved at Haydock High.
