To ensure pupils of all abilities have the opportunity to participate in competitive school sport, we attend a wide range of competitions across St Helens. Our aim is ensure all young people have the opportunity to attend a competition which is relevant to their confidence, competence and motivation.

Autumn

During September, Year 5 and Year 6 both took part in football tournaments at Ruskin Drive and Sutton Leisure Centre. The teams showed great sportsmanship, finishing 5th and 3rd in their tournaments. This half term, we have also taken part in Boccia, Multi-skills and other football tournament. 

KS1 Gymnastics

Year 1, 2 loved attending St Helens Gymnastics Centre to take part in a range of gymnastics activities such as trampolining, vault and beam.

KS2 Netball

KS2 finished 5th out of 16 schools in their Netball tournament. They showed great skills that they have learnt in Netball afterschool club.

KS2 Multi-skills Competition

KS2 really enjoyed taking part in a range of multi-skill activities. They enjoyed competing against their friends and trying to beat their best scores.

Wednesday 17th May

Year 6 finished 2nd in their cricket tournament today. They loved the format of diamond cricket and performed to a very good standard.

Wednesday 3rd May

Year 5 took part in a Diamond Cricket tournament at Newton-Le-Willows. The children loved their first cricket tournament of the year. 

 

Monday 27th March

Well done to our Year 3 pupils who enjoyed taking part in a football competition at Sutton Leisure Centre. The children worked hard and showed good sportsmanship. 

Wednesday 1st March

Year 3 and 4 pupils enjoyed a gymnastics competition. They took part in vault, sequence, floor routines and group routines.

Monday 6th February

Year 5 boys did fantastic in their tournament. They finished 3rd out of more than 10 teams. They showed great ability, communication and teamwork!

Friday 20th January

Year 5 and 6 girls had a fantastic time at the Y5/6 football festival. The girls showed great ability, teamwork and most importantly sportsmanship.

7th December 2022

Four representatives from Year 2 completed in a multi-skills event against other schools. They performed brilliantly, were extremely well behaved and were shining examples, making us all proud. Well done Year 2! 

 22nd November 2022

A huge well done to our Year 5 and Year 6 children who took part in a Football competition this week. The children represented the school demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and team work. The team played against 10 different  schools. Grange Valley got to the final which was was a very close match. The match went to penalties and ....... we won!

Our year 5 boys competed in the St Helens schools Rugby tournament today. This was held at our partner school Wargrave. They had a fantastic time and showed great sportsmanship! Well done!

19th May 2022

A huge well done to our Year 6 cricket team who came 2nd in the tournament today! They demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship, tried their very best and came back to school with an impressive result! Well done, everyone!

28th February 2022

Year 3 loved their football tournament on Friday. They missed out on the semi finals by 1 point and finished 3rd out of 8 teams. Well done Year 3!

1st February 2022

Year 2 have had a lovely morning at KS1 Boccia. The children learnt the rules of the game and managed to get a massive 258 points between them!

Thursday 21st October 2021

The Year 2 children were excited to take part in their first football tournament today. A group of children went to Sutton Academy to represent our school. The children demonstrated respect, resilience and great team work as they played against other local schools. We are very proud of you all! 

Thursday 7th October 2021

Today, Year 4 took part in a football tournament at Sutton Academy. This was the first school tournament for over 2 years due to COVID! The children were excited to compete and represent the school.  Overall, the children won 2 games, drew 2 games and lost 1. They had a fantastic time and showed great sportsmanship throughout the day. 

So far this term the children have taken part in KS1 multi-skills tournaments, Y1 football, Y5/6 girls and boys football. There has also been gymnastic participation events for Y3/4 pupils.

Autumn Term 

So far during this half term Y4, 5 and 6 have attended football tournaments. The children also took part in KS1 multi-skills  and KS1/KS2 Boccia.

Previous Years

Y6 Rowing Congratulations to our Y6 children who went to Haydock High today. Grange Valley came first!!! All the children received medals and certificates.

  

Y5/6 Archery

Today we attended Haydock High School for an archery competition. We came second after scoring 83 points.

Overall Max Grundy was the highest scorer of the competition with 24 points and Georgia Lloyd was the only competitor to score a 10.   Well done team!

        

Y3/4 Everton Football

Well done to the 13 children who attended the Y3/4 Everton football competition. You all played great!

    

Y5/6 Sporthall Athletics

The teachers at Grange Valley are so proud of how our children performed at the athletics competition today. On the day our school came 4th out of 10 schools and overall 6th out of 20 schools. A MASSIVE improvement from last year. We would like to thank Miss Sheffield for running athletics club. Well done children!

   

   

   

Y3/4 Tag Rugby

  

Well done to our Y3/4 tag rugby team who came second after loosing in the final 10-11.

Y5/6 Football

 

Well done to our football team who came second at the football compertition at Haydock High today. Unfortunately they were beat 1-0 in the final!

Y6 Football

Mr Robinson took our Y6 football team to Hope Academy for a 6 a side football compertiton. We were impressed with how much effort the players put in and they came third in their group.

   

 

Y6 Netball

Miss Sheffield took our Y6 netball team to Haydock High School for a High5 Netball competition. The girls played fantastically and they won the overall competition, well done girls!

   

KS2 Netball 

Well done to our netball team who entered the high 5 netball competition at Rainford Brooklodge today. Mrs Fowler     was very proud of you all! Mr Hanley the headteacher commented on how fantastic all the players were.

KS2 Rounders

Well done to our mixed rounders team who played at the event St.Helens rounders event at Ruskin Drive on 17th June. Unfortunately we didn't retain our rounders champion status this year however, the team played fantastically and they   will continue to practise in school in preparation for the staff V children rounders tournament at the end of the year.

KS2 Boys Cricket

After their visit to Lord's cricket ground the boys cricket team were ready for the St.Helens cricket event at Ruskin Drive. Miss Sheffield was impressed with how the boys applied their cricket skills that the coaches from Lord's had taught them. Well done boys!

 

KS2 ‘QuadKids’ Athletics

Well done to our athletics team of 8 children who attended the KS2 Quadkids athletics event at Sutton Academy. All children performed well in the 75M sprint, 600M distance race, Vortex Howler throw and a standing long jump events.  The children were all very tired after the 600M race!

      

KS2 Girls Cricket

On 19th May our girls cricket team went to Newton cricket club and took part in the St.Helens ECB girls kwik cricket event. The girls played fantastically and they won 2 matches. The girls are looking forward to the mixed cricket event coming up and they will continue to train with Chris our Lancashire coach and Miss Sheffield.

KS2 ‘Tag 2 Twickenham’

On 30th April our tag rugby team went to St.Helens Rugby/Football club and took part in the Tag 2 Twickenham event. Well done to the team who won 2 matches and lost 2 matches.

KS1 Multi-Skills

We were so proud of our 5 KS1 children who took part in a multi-skills competition at Lansbury Bridge. They competed in 8 events and scored over 1000 points, well done!

       

     

    

Indoor Athletics

A group of Y 4/5 children competed in an indoor athletics competition at Haydock High School. All the children did well   in the events and some children even won their events. Overall we came 3rd and the children received bronze medals,   well done!

 

Tag 2 Twickenham Rugby

Congratulations to our rugby team who came third in the Tag to Twickenham tournament.

   

 

 KS1 Football

Well done to our KS1 football teams! Our talented group of boys and girls from Year 1 and 2 came second in the St Helens Festival organised by Everton. The children won 4 out of their 5 games! We are very proud!

 

Rowing Competition

Well done to our Y 4/5 rowing team who competed against local schools at Haydock High School on   Wednesday. All the children were fantastic and overall we came 4th. Well done!

  

 

 Climbing Competition

Well done to Connor, Dylan, Nathan and Shannon from Y6 for winning the climbing competition at Haydock   High School! Dylan came first out of everyone there to win Climber of the Competition!

         

 

Sportshall Athletics

On Friday 8th November some children from year 4 and 5 went to the St. Helens Sportshall Athletics competition at         Broadway Leisure Centre. Miss Prescott and Miss Sheffield were extremely proud of how well the children competed in       events and how well they worked as a team. Well done children!

    

    

 

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!

Well done to our rounder’s team who took part in the St. Helens competition at Ruskin Drive. The team did exceptionally well, winning our first ever trophy       (for a long, long, long time) the children beat some of the best team in the area and were complimented on their outstanding sportsmanship, attitude and  pristine presentation. Well done, we are extremely proud of you all!
