As a school, we aim to celebrate the diversity of all nationalities, cultures and faith groups and offer a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our pupils, including new arrivals and pupils who have English as an additional language.

Within our teaching of Religious Education, we hope to ensure that pupils recognise the diversity that exists within and between communities and amongst individuals. At our school, we aim to facilitate and encourage pupils to reflect on their own experiences and to formulate their own ideas, beliefs and values. Our pupils will acquire knowledge and understanding of beliefs and practices of the main world religions. They will develop confidence in their own beliefs and values so that they can respect religious and cultural differences in others.

We believe that our RE curriculum should be accessible to learners of faith and those of no faith.  The school's curriculum aims to encourage pupils to explore their own beliefs (whether they are of faith or not.)  It also offers children the opportunity to examine issues of religious belief and faith and to express their responses through a broad and balanced approach.  

Our chosen syllabus is carefully planned and drives the vision, aims and values of our school and serves the needs of all of our community. This ensures that knowledge and skills build on what has been taught before and towards our curricular goals.

My name is Mrs A Kruze and I am the Religious Education Subject Lead at Grange Valley Primary School. At our school, we believe the study of Religious Education (RE) plays an important part in a child’s development. We follow the locally agreed syllabus for RE determined by St Helens SACRE (Standard Advisory Council on RE), which from September 2019, is developed by Lancashire.

I am passionate about the teaching of RE and its ability to extend and deepen pupils’ abilities to think critically and make sense of religion. Religious Education gives pupils the knowledge and time to understand concepts and gain deeper insight into the world in which they live and be appropriately challenged.

We value the children’s input to continuing to refine our curriculum ensuring it meet the needs of every Grange Valley child. The aim of mini leaders is to enhance children’s personal development skill whilst making a positive difference to our school. Teams will meet at least once every half term.
