W/B: 6th July 2015

Congratulations to all of our children who graduated today!

W/B: 29th June 2015

Well done to all of our super nursery children, we were all so proud of how well they did on sports day!

The children had lots of fun digging for buried treasure in the sand. Some of the golden coins had letters on and Lily was able to use the coins to spell out words like cat, dog and rat.

After reading a story called 'Shark in the Park', the children were inspired to make their own telescopes. The teachers had hidden lots of sharks around nursery for the children to hunt for.

Pirate Pete hid some treasure in our outdoor area. The children looked at some real treasure maps and then they made their own. We followed their maps to find Pirate Pete's treasure, there were golden coins and jewels.

The afternoon group came up with a wonderful game, they made a track using the wooden bricks and balanced carefully so the sharks didn't bite them!

 W/B: 22nd June 2015:

Well done to our stars of the week Cohen, Sophie, Ella and Leon.

Do you like out sea creature craft? We used paper plates and crape paper to make dangly jellyfish.

In group time we practised designing our own fish, the children used crayons to draw lots of different patterns e.g. waves and zigzags.

It was lovely to see our afternoon children playing so nicely together on Thursday. They helped each other build a track and raced the cars as fast as they could!

This week we have been practising our sports day races, we hope you can all make it on Thursday.

Can you guess what we will be learning about next week? Our afternoon children helped us set up our new role-play area.

W/B: 20th October:

Well done to Katie for getting her certificate for completing the library reading challenge!

Where has the last 8 weeks gone?! We hope the children have enjoyed their first half term in nursery at much as we have. Enjoy the holidays and ensure the children have a restful week ready for the busy half term ahead.

Well done to our stars of the week Jack, Cian and Isabelle!

This week we have been learning all about the story 'The Little Red Hen'. The children enjoyed listening to the story and learning all about how to make bread. The children have enjoyed taking part in lots of other story related activities e.g. planting wheat seeds, mark making in flour and baking cakes at the Little Red Hen bakery.  We have also made lots of wonderful Little Red Hen craft for our display.

Later in the week we followed the instructions in the Little Red Hens baking book to make some bread. When our bread was ready we had it for snack with some delicious soup, the children ate it all up!

This week we have also been talking about the harvest festival, thank you for all of your kind food donations. We have been learning the names of vegetables and the children really enjoyed playing vegetable bingo. In group we went on a vegetable hunt around our playground.

This week we also introduced our fruit and vegetable role-play shop.

In PE this week we used some of the apparatus for the first time. We practised getting on and off safely and balancing with our arms out.

If you would like to buy some of your childs christmas cards please return them by Monday 3rd October.

W/B: 13th October:

Well done to our stars of the week Ellena, Sophie and Archie!

Thank you to all the children who brought in objects from their autumn walk at home.

On Tuesday we ventured out of nursery for an autumn walk. We collected lots of autumn objects that had fallen off the trees. On the way back we found a HUGE branch that we are going to decorate and hang up in our nursery.

Autumn craft!

On Friday the children had fun in our autumn mud pit!

W/B: 6th October:

Well done to our stars of the week Ella, Jack and Lily!

This week we went on a teddy bears picnic in our school woodland area. We followed the paw prints and signs deep in the forest where we found a picnic all ready for us to eat, it was yummy. We sang a song called 'Teddy Bears Picnic' and played the some musical instruments to see if the teddy bears would come.

In our hall time this week we took our teddy bears and we danced with them until we were all ready for a sleep.

In key group time this week each group made their own special build a bear. The children each put a special love heart and some stuffing in their bear. Yellow groups bear is called ‘Honey’, Green groups bear is called ‘Buzz’ and Blue groups bear is called ‘Mikey’.

Mummy bear came to visit us on Wednesday and we wrote her a list of things she needed to buy from Tesco for baby bears birthday picnic. While she was there she bought us some special things to make our teddy bear biscuits. We hope you enjoyed eating them.

Finally on Friday we had a big birthday party for Miss Anslow's special birthday. Happy birthday Miss Anslow from all the children in Nursery :)

W/B: 29th September:

Don't forget your teddy bear and boots on Monday morning!

Well done to our stars of the week Grace, Freya and Katie!

Can you guess what story we have been learning about this week?

Our Nursery children have been hunting for bears all week! Each group started the week by reading the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and they all had a wonderful time exploring the story props from each story scene. The children were all encouraged to join in with the repeated phrases in the story and by the end they had learned all the words. Can they remember them at home? At the end of the story the children enjoyed giving our HUGE friendly bear a big hug.

In PE we listened to the story read by Michael Rosen and moved around the hall pretending we were acting out the story. The children's favourite was squelching through the think oozy mud!

In 'Rhyme Time' this week we practised our rhyme of the week 'Round and Round the Garden' and learnt some new counting rhymes about frogs and elephants.
